e-brake light turning on?

So, for some strange reason, im not sure if this is an electrical problem, or a brake problem but here it goes. Apparently when im driving normally, with the e-brake down, my e-brake light turns on, then turns off. I've been trying to figure out a pattern for it, but its hard to tell, as it is very inconsistent. A few times it will turn on when i hit around 2500 rpms in first gear, and wont turn off until i shift it into third, shifting at 3000 at each gear. It doesnt do it all the time, and if anything in only stays on for a few seconds, at most. Does any one know what could be causing this. When i set my hand brake to park it works normally, i'm just not sure why it turns on and off like this. Only mods to the cluster was a ex cluster swap for the tach, and a ctr cf bezel, except both were done two years ago, and i havent ran into this problem until now. Any help anyone?

does it ever come on while youre on the brake? replace the cap, check fluids, possibly check the switch on the ebrake for damage, dirt, etc.

I know for certain the brake light WILL come on if you have a bad master cylinder cap or low fluid. My buddies came on when he had low brake fluid. Also check the switch under the arm rest.

Ok thanks guys, yeah i'm pritty sure my brake fluid must be low, i'll pick up a bottle tomorrow morning, and fill it up. That makes sense.

Also, i cant remember if this applies to a Civic or not... but, Some Hondas will do that when they have a brake light bulb out. Check your rear bulbs also.

Have you taken apart your center console to see if you have any slack in the wire...which would occasionally make contact which would then cause the light to turn on...?
