Just picked up a Dual, touchscreen DVD/AUX headunit. from my buddy at work for $150. and in order to play dvds, u need to have the e-brake engage. im guessin you connect it somehow to the E-brake light so the unit knows that its on and can play. but instead of doing that, anyone know a way to bye pass that so when i drive home at the end of this month i dont have to hear my gf the whole time? lol. idc if i have to watch "The Notebook" 5 times, i jsut want he to be quiet....

(i love her but she hates my muisc and complains about the constant exhaust note at 3500rpm...i need to keep her occupied)

on back of headunit will be the e-brake cable i think..you can ground that on the handbrake or if your handbrake aint strong on the first click then drive around with one click on

Thats interesting, didnt know they made it so you couldnt watch tv while driving.

Post up what car you have. Theres wiring diagrams you can find at www.the12volt.com and they might have someone else who already has done what you want to do. I'm not good with electronics but it just seems like the connection to the brake light is the power for the dvd player. Might want to just hook it up to the battery with a fuse. Make sure you read up on it though I'm just tossing that out there(read my sig disclaimer).

Good luck with the gf. Just raise the back of your hand next time.

Thats a good idea about leaving the brake up. Just adjust it under the center console thing so you dont waste brake pads.

i may have found a way via a subaru club lol.

^^ u can do that, or wire to a constant ground.
thats why i did with mine, wired it to the ebrake so that when it was down (off) the dvd player could play and when it was up in the brake motion, the dvd player could not play.

well if all its needs is just to have the light on, i can shove a rolled up t-shirt under it so it raises up about an inch, and that put that light on, and not have to click into position...but my ebrake dosent really start puttin any pressure on my drums till like 4th or 5th click....

thanks for that link, i was searched for somethin like that but couldnt pull anything up...my search skills are garbage

For mine I just connected the ebrake cable coming from the unit to the ebrake cable coming directly out of the handle and it seems to be working just fine. I did put in a switch between the connection and unit in a hidden place so I can flip it and the unit stops working, and shows the message ebrake not on. I added the switch just so the cops dont have another reason to give me a ticket.

yea, i jsut ran the switch and everything is soddered/shrinked properly but i cant figure out the order that i need to flip the swith.

like, ive gotten to work twice, but i cant figure out how i did it lol. i figured have it on (ebrake engaged), start it, let it run a lil bit, flip it off (ebrake disengaged) then flip it on again (ebrake engaged) and it should work...

someone lemme know wut im doin wrong here
