Hey, I was thinking of buying an JDM 320mm Steering Wheel from Ebay. I have an 98 EX Coupe (EJ i think?) and i was wondering if it's worth it to buy from Ebay? If not, can you guys point me to the right direction? thanks!

Also, I was wondering, What is a quickrelease? is that the same as a HUB?

in my personal Opinion, if you can just save a little bit more and buy something worth...you can buy some brand from eBay, but in the long run, you gonna want something better...You can find a Nardi replica Steering wheel for about 130 bucks, and short hub replica from NRG for like 70, or in the hub can buy the eBay one for a while...as for the Quickrelase, its not the same as the hub, the HUB is for yu to be able to put an aftermarket steering wheel on you car, and the Quickrelaese is to be able to take out the wheel from the vehicle..its worth it..Hope this help man

I was going to do that, but i decided to just save up just a little more, and i dont regret my purchase!!

Thanks WiaoEK9, I'm really short on money that's why i was wondering if i should buy one haha. Does the Quick release work for any steering wheel? stock and aftermarket?

@ 1SikCivic, Is your Wheel like the one i'm talking about? those JDM 320mm ones for about 30-40 dollars?

Ebay FTW.
JDM 320MM no-name steering wheel, plus adapter hub and quick release. All for $50.
I've been very satisfied for months now, the quick release works great and the steering wheel is the same as a brand name one, minus the brand name price.

To put an aftermarket wheel in you NEED a hub. To put a quick release in you need the wheel, the hub, and the quick release.

I recommend that you go with either a short hub or a short quick release. If you do a standard hub and standard quick release, the wheel sticks out very far. I hated my long hub and quick release so I bought a short hub and can't be happier. I might even buy a short quick release to go with it to bring it that much closer to the column.

No you can't run a quick release with a stock wheel.

Here's a link to the exact product I bought from ebay. It's expired, but there's others auctions out there identical to this one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180598838488&viewitem=

And the wheel was just the one I wanted. There's a ton of different auctions with the same hub and quick release parts, but a different steering wheel. For example you can get the JDM one with the red Honda symbol in the middle, but I liked a different one better.

@lethal6 do you kno how much short hub and short quick release is?
to buy name brand you're looking at $50 to $80 for the short hub,
and $70 - $100 for the short quick release.

this is why I bought the steering wheel that came with just the regular hub and didn't buy a quick release,

Yes the quick release would be awesome and I can buy that later down the road but like you I was on a BUDGET. I could of bought a $20 ebay quick release but I did not feel comfortable with buying a no name one for safety reasons.

if I were to buy a quick release I would do it like 1sikcivic and purchase a quality name one like NRG. BUT those are $80-$100.

At first I was hesitant to put my life in the hands of an ebay quick release, but I've been using it for a few months and it still grabs the wheel just as well as when it was new. And I stressed the wheel for awhile, doing things like dry steering through a power steering rack with the power steering pump removed (had some issues a few weeks ago with the underdrive pulley). I think the whole steering assembly handled that better than my arms did. :P

if you keep your eyes out and search hard, you can often find a quick release and hub cheap. I got mine together for 80 bucks. And both are NRG parts.

Im pretty sure you wuld be ok with the ebay quick release, but i would search real hard and keep your eyes out on cl and you can usally find NRG for not that much. Ebay wheel and hub will be fine though.

Depends on the brand I guess. I went with NRG for both and they were $100 for the hub, and the quick release was $110.

Exactly. I don't trust the cheap crap and would rather the piece of mind that I have a quality piece on something as important as the steering.

I don't cheap out on anything and I sure as hell wouldn't on important components.

Check the vendors here, I know some of them sell full NRG kits.
