You can't be serious? April fools...?im confused...all the wheel does is turn something else....what does a more expensive one do that that one wouldn't? i guess maybe if it actually broke or something, but i think thats really unlikely.
soooo...you would rather run into something that WONT bend or break with alot of force...over something that WILL???You can't be serious? April fools...?
Do you realize how much force a steering wheel takes in an accident? I have seen cheap junk steering wheels pretty much folded in half with blood all over the hub after an accident because it couldn't take the impact. I have also seen stock ones that were bent, but not as much and they seemed to hold to the force better. My best friend's dad is a retired Fire Chief and he showed me MANY pics of accident scenes when he was active. I don't cheap out on stuff like this after seeing those.
Not saying that my Momo will hold up well in an accident, but it sure as hell will hold up better than those cheap $20 wheels, plus my hub is practically bullet proof where those cheap $10 ones will d*mn near snap if you so much as look at them funny.
I bought a cheap beater once and the clown put a ebay hub and racewheel on it, going around a corner I stripped the splines on the hub and had no steering. Thank god I had another honda steering wheel at home. Almost hit another car.
I didn't say that....did I? There is a difference between a stock or well built steering wheel bending a bit in an accident and a cheap one bending in half or even snapping. Bending to absorb the force and folding like a taco because of cheap material is 2 different worlds.soooo...you would rather run into something that WONT bend or break with alot of force...over something that WILL???
...just saying, your car is designed to break and bend in an accident. if you are concerned about accidents i would think you would have a steering wheel with an air bag lol.
-But i do agree on the hub, you wouldn't want your steering wheel to break if it gets shot at, so i guess the wheel would be fine as long as you got a quality hub.
Exactly.im sayin... im a Fire fighter and ive been on Scenes where Steering Wheels Failed and took a guys head off cuz the Bolts came undone and it flew off out the back window...but yeah donty cheap on the important stuff if your gonan Cheap... do it on Mirrors or somethin
Guess you totally missed my point. That or you are failing at trying to be funny. Can't put my finger on it.
see. gota get that bullet proof hub and you would be fine lol.
You totally missed the point as well. Those cheap ebay wheels will bend or even snap in a MINOR wreck, let alone one that is major. A major wreck it could mean your life. Next time you are in a car with a cheap steering wheel, put your hands at 10 and 2 and give it a little push. See how the wheel starts to bend a bit even with a very little amount of force. Not something I would drive with, that's for sure. Do that to a stock or a well built aftermarket wheel and you have to push it with a decent amount of force to get it to start bending.Seriously some of what you guys are saying is funny as s*** to me. lmao. Look if you wreck your car so dam hard that you have to worry about the steering wheel bending then I would think you would have a lot more to worry about then what name was on it, like stated above stock wheels fold in half so who cares if you get an eBay wheel for hella cheap, like it was stated before if you are that worried stay stock and air bagged, as far as dudes steering wheel coming off, that was installation error as far as I am concerned, the splines are so many that it would be almost impossible to strip them all so as to have the steering wheel come off, it sounds like it wasn't the right hub for the car to begin with. Look no mater what people say, bottom line is that it's your choice! Just do research when shopping on eBay and make sure you pick the top rated and trusted sellers! if and when I buy from eBay there positive feedback must be in the 99% mark and if buying for import don't buy from someone who has nothing but American car stuff with the exception of that one part your looking for.
The quality of the materials is EXACTLY why I wouldn't buy a cheaper one. Like I said, I have seen and handled both the cheap ones and the better ones. They are night and day.^^I don't understand why you bring up the wheel bending after an accident. Something that happens after an accident won't magically go back and time and make you get in or not get in that accident. Like somebody else said earlier, I'd rather have something with a little give than ram my face into solid metal at full force. Actually, I'd rather have an air bag, but that's not for this thread.
I see no reason not to buy a cheaper steering wheel. Just tighten all fittings adequately and you should be good to go.
That said, I'm cleaning this thread up (the off topic posts). Keep the thread on topic. In addition, disagreement is perfectly fine.. continue to debate your points, but keep it in control too. Don't let it get out of hand and start flaming.

Exactly.

Also the hub stripping off the splines in my opinion had nothing to do with installation. Cheap materials, give cheap results. I have handled both the top name brand and the cheap ones. Trust me, there is a HUGE difference in quality. The cheap ones I have dealt with have been very thin material.
ONLY thing I will agree with you on is that it is his money and he can do what he wants. I won't however agree to recommending cheaping out on something like this. That is just something I won't do.
