electric windows keep blowing fuse for the relay!!

Hi got a bit of a problem with my civic, my windows all of a sudden stopped working not long after buying the car so i checked the fuse and found that there werent any for the individual windows (thats two 20 amp fuses missing) but there was a blown 25 amp fuse in the relay which is only meant to have a 7.5 amp fuse in it.

I replaced all the fuses putting the right ones in place...the windows worked...for like 1 minute then the relay fuse blew again and now whenever i replace the fuse the second i touch the switch to bring the window up the fuse just goes instantly!!

Anyone come accross maybe a similar problem or know what steps i should take??

what year car do you have?
Does it set off the fuse on all windows or just certain ones?
Could be you have a short somewhere, or one or all of your relays need to be looked at.

Sort of the same thing would happen to me in my 96 sedan when I was listening to my radio and trying to open or close the sunroof. Took it to the honda mechanic, and he worked some magic. He installed a breaker instead of a fuse for that circuit so if it overloaded, it just set off the breaker and a couple of minutes later it reset and worked. He couldn't fix the root of the problem but did make it so I wasn't replacing so many fuses. It did seem to not trip as much either.:what:

it only blows the fuse for the relay none of the others so my guess would be my relay is hammered where they had a 25amp fuse to protect it when it needed a 7.5 amp one in its place....but thats an un-educated guess.

pretty good guess I'd say. relays are pretty easy to replace and not expensive, getting to them....another story.

edit: actually some aren't bad, you may have to get into the door panel or under the dash, I'm not sure where the you need to get to.
