hey whats up. my girl just hooked up 2 eminence alpha 8 inch speakers to an infinity 656 watt amp. the problem is now that when she steps on the gas the speakers kind of whistle like a siren. it starts quiet and gets louder as you give it more gas. any ideas what could cause this? oh yeah its a 92 civic dx,5spd. she also has 2 kicker 12"s with a pioneer 760 watt amp running.

bad ground........ get a bigger ground wire, or ground the one you have properly grounded........ =)

you think so? she has em both grounded together, that might work to move the other ground

moving the other ground may help... If you are hearing that noise and the tone of the noise raises with your RPMs... something in your system is NOT grounded properly. Since it happened w/ the addition w/your new amp, I would start there.

Happy hunting!

With engine noise coming from subs I would have to say that she needs to turn on the low pass filter and tune the amp. She probably ran the rcas with the power wire (which is ok for subs only) but if she is trying to run the subs as a full range driver she needs to run the rcas down the opposite side of the car than the power wire

"tune the amp", such a funny statement.......

The amps crossover isnt going to help a grounding issue.

You are right about one thing though, you really shouldnt run your power and your RCAs leads together. =)

ok, if engine noise is a high frequency then YES turning on the lowpass filter and tuning the crossover slope will remove engine noise if the rcas are ran with the power. Most engine noise is going to be introduced through the rcas and not the ground. The fact that engine noise is coming through 8 ince subs is going to lead me to beleive that the amps crossover is in all pass. BECAUSE THERE WOULDNT BE ENGINE NOISE IF THE LOPASS FILTER WAS ENGAGED
