Engine light problems, help!

i just bought my 2000 honda civic ex coupe for 1500$ i bought the car not knowing it had any problems however 3 days later when i got on the interstate to go to work, my light came on at about 60. i had it pluged in to the diagnostic and it spit 2 codes , i dont have them off hand but one was a catalytic converter, and the other was a engine canister leak( gas leak). what course of action should i take to fix this and is it hurting my car untill i do? i was thinking just by a catback(any suggestions?). but i dont know the first thing about a engine canister, so any tips and info on this would be appreciated. Thank you

I can't comment on the canister (evap canister?) but buying a cat back won't fix your problem. A cat back is just after the cat. Depending on your emissions a cheap alternative would be a test pipe. Or if you have some extra cash then you could get a high flow cat
