Engine mods

Hello everyone, I'm new here and new to civic even though I just had a Integra and I'd have to say I like civics a lot more. I just wanted to ask anyone some easy ways to gain a little more power without a full rebuild or boost. I have a 99 ex with a d16y8 only mods so far is intake and exhaust. I just want a little more power. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

The little bit of power you are looking for will yield imperceptible results, so don't bother as it will be a waste of money. If you want more power, you need to boost or to do an expensive engine swap.

Welcome to cc!

About all an intake header and exhaust will do for u is make ur car sound like a bowl of rice...

Engine swap is your best bet...

No sense in rebuilding the D if you're not going turbo/super/spray. Swap in a B18B and get a B16 tranny with an LSD. Fun, peppy, torquey (for a Honda), stock DD. You can throw on intake/header/exhaust but there's no VTEC. You don't need VTEC anyways. Plus if you want to boost down the road, the B18B is a great motor for it.

Yeah, not much to gain from building a D-series. Most people go for boost if you want any significant gains. No matter how you look at it, real power costs money.

im just uneasy about b18s cause with my teggy all i had was problems, i had a cooling problem i was never able to figure out thats why i got rid of it. but maybe ill look into rebuilding one on the side i know they are good for boost which is what i eventually plan to do

As long as you properly keep up with maintenance, you shouldn't have issues. I've got almost 228k on my Y8 and there are zero issues with the engine. Lots of issues elsewhere :P.

was the over heating problem the only reason why you like Civics more?

How much money are you willing to invest Right Now?

I had an overheating problem with my civic and no problems out of my integra. It all comes down to how well the car was taken care of.

You can make anything fast if you throw enough money at it.. Making it breath & exhale better always helps.
