Engine sounds louder (like a go cart)

Have a 96 civic cx (245000kms)After getting my axle and ball joint fixed from the mechanic my car sounds louder almost like a go cart. Sounds like it's running on three cylinder I checked to make sure all the spark plugs were in and they were. Not sure if the power is down kind of hard to judge because the engine sounds like it's pushing a lot harder. sounds get louder when I'm giving it gas, don't hear it at all when I'm in neutral. I thought axle and ball joint repair was not related to the engine the car sounded normal before it left for the shop. Any ideas???

Could've cracked the exhaust maybe. Might have a leak.

Take your car back to the shop ASAP.

^^Beat me to it. Don't know why people don't do this first before complaining about their mechanic online.
