I have a 2000 ex civic and was thinking about either engine swaping with a b18 spoon, or a doing all internals on my d16 and then turbo it with the kit from jg eldebrock. which would you suggest??

It really depends on what you want to attain. If you want reliable quick car, swap any b series in there. Check out http://www.homemadeturbo.com for info on d series engines with turbos. Not the most reliable setup with anything more than about 5psi in stock form (which sounds like what you're going to leave it at). I'm not speaking from first hand experience so if anyone has done this, lets hear how its working out for you. Personally I would swap first, complete rebuild, and then turbo. Oh wait...I did do that.

so what engine did you swap in to ur civc? I am assuming you like it, what did you do to it? what kind of numbers are you getting on 1/4 mile and such.

I havent swapped yet, but I want to swap a B18c5 and N/A tune it for a while, then turbo it....But it all depends on what you want...if you want to turbo it right away I would recommend a b18c1 (gsr motor) and turbo that, youll get some nice hp...Now you are probably asking why would I recommend a b18c1 but then I want a b18c5...Simple, I am not going to turbo mine right off the bat...I am going to N/A tune it to see if I can get numbers I am happy with and leave it like that for reliability reasons...Then if I dont get the numbers I want, bring on the turbo..My 2 cents

ya totally understandable. i understand all the differences with the motors and what they are. i was just asking to see if there was other aspects of the choice that i had over looked. i would also consider the b18c5, but i don't know if the reliablity is worth the extra 2k, but it would be nice to have a hella fast n/a tuned car.

I'm swapping my stock B16 with a B18C1 and going to turbo that up. I was also planning on making my whole body out of carbon fiber. I've found a front bumper I like that's carbon fiber, also side skirts, fenders, hood, door panels, trunk, and wing that are all made from carbon fiber. I don't know if it's a good idea though so I'm just thinking about a Buddy Club 2 body kit for my [future] Civic.
