ex front grille question(s)

Hey all,

I have a 99 ex coupe in VSM, and want to switch the front grille with an OEM SI mesh grille. I understand that the colored trim piece and the grille itself are 2 different pieces, what I need to know is is the VSM trim piece will accept the SI grille insert? I found a new insert, but all the trim pieces available are blue, black and red, no silver, and don't want to have to paint a new trim piece if I don't need to.

Also, the lower bumper grille, is there anything you can upgrade that to, or is there nothing available. I have looked, and all I have found was the grillcraft crap that sits in front of it. Any other suggestions?

No you can't use your existing outer grill piece with the Si black plastic part. You'll need to find someone selling one or paint one to match since I don't see the dealers selling oem silver ones.

And I don't think there is another option for the bumper grill besides what you mentioned

if you cant swap the outside trim onto a si inner piece like child said i would buy a can of touchup paint in an aerosol can and paint it myself, if you dont want to do that then i think when you order the whole grill if you give them your vin they will paint it

You won't find an OEM SI grill in VSM because the SI was only available in the Blue, Red, and Black.

HOWEVER, the Civic Type R was release in VSM and has essentially the same grill, but I'm sure you'll pay a hair more for it if you can find one (used of course).
