is it hard to do? or should i pay someone to do it? and if i pay..how much does tht cost?
yep... all the connectors will be there at your disposal. Don't worry about plugging the wrong wire into the wrong slot because they're all a specific size and if you f**k it up, then you're a moron... LoLlazy butt alex said:when u say "wire it" u mean..jsut plut it in?
i suggest getting a sir2 cluster unless you know what swap your gettin, cause the redline on the si cluster is 7200 i believe but some motors redline at 8200, and the sir2 cluster goes up too 8200, so make sure the swap your gettin matches the redline.lazy butt alex said:LOL iight koo..now i gota find me a cluster...the 92-95 ex coupe n 92-95 HB si..is the same ones right?
big 2"??? hell, i have 2-1/16" gauges and there not big at all. i take it you mean the 5" tachs people mount on their dashboards? haha, i'm just messing with you, i like the tachs in the cluster as well.lazy butt alex said:yep..and i dont want thoes big 2" tach meters..to "riced" out.well thts my opion on them..n they get in the way..and peope like to steal em....lol..so i jsut want me a RPM tht look stock..cuz im gon need it..my goal LATER LATER..is to do some kind of swap..but thts not gon be fa awhile..LOL
the way I see it is that it doesn't really matter where the actual "red line" is on the face of the tach. As long as the proper ECU is used during the swap the rev-limiter will be correct.ljnick17 said:quick question while we're on the subject. if you were engine swapping and wanted/needed a higher redline, could you just get the gauge overlays (you know, like the reverse glow ones or whatever) that were meant for an si? (like importfans situation) or does the movement of the gauges change with the cluster? this may sound dumb, but it looks like since the 6th gen si has a higher redline that the ex, the tach just wraps around further. get what i'm saying? if thats true, then you could keep your stock cluster and just get the white face gauges, if you don't mind them. plus you wouldn't have to deal with swapping speedos for milege concerns, and it would be cheaper. i don't know, i'm just saying...
yes but wouldnt you want the reading to be accurate with the motor, if your gunna do it then do it right and match up the redlines.lazy butt alex said:but..the redling on the cluster..it shouldnt matter right?.for example..if i was to get a say...GSR motor...n if the cluster redlines at 7,200...tht doesnt mean the motor starting to redline..cant i just keep going till the GSR redline at like 8 something?
yeah i figured it would work okay. yes, assuming you use the proper ECU, your redline shouldn't depend on what the gauge is reading, but i would think most people would like to match their tach to their engine. like if you swapped a d16 from a 6th gen to a b16/18, you would probably want the tach to be "accurate" with your engine. rather than just having to know what the redline is. i just didn't know why people got a whole new cluster when they swapped say, and d16 to a b16, when they could just get some si gauge faces (if they din't mind the appearance). oh wellRaYrAy said:the way I see it is that it doesn't really matter where the actual "red line" is on the face of the tach. so yeah, is that sense putting the overlays would do the job viaually..
