Exhaust help

Hey guys so I bought this Civic a couple months ago and it had an exhaust leak but the guy gave me a brand new exhaust so I took it. Just got around to putting he new one in because I was getting tired of the sound but after I put everything in the new one ended up even louder even with the silencer in.

After some research it turns out the new exhaust he gave me was a s***ty eBay catback.

Anyone know anything I can do to reduce the noise without getting a whole new exhaust? The currentl muffler is 4" so I was thinking something smaller but some suggestions would help out alot, thanks.

My car's a 97 EX Coupe btw

Get a new smaller muffler, and a big resonator

I put an ESTuning chambered muffler on my set up and quiets it down by a lot and sounds better. It's a 2.5" and to eliminate rasp I would get a resonator.

Does the exhaust have a resonator? If not, you could have an exhaust shop weld one on the mid-pipe. Then buy a different muffler and have them weld that on the axleback. Those should quiet it down a lot.

DUDE use the thick one so it wont blow out...put it in the muffler and cap it in with the silencer will work great !!! keeps it quiet as a mouse

what everyone else's said. and no, stuffing a fart can with steel wool is a horrible idea. i believe i saw someone roasted on youtube for doing that ricer s**t to his 240. >.<

thats what it does to your exhaust man its great for inspections even helps with emmisions for barring

stuffing it with steel wool is not safe because it suffers the airflow through the exhaust causing it to consume more gas
