Alright!
Finally installed my JDM knockoff mirrors. I gott'em for xmas and just put them on last week. If anyone has any questions, which I don't think you will, PM me.
Here are the mirrors out of the box and unpainted
The stock OEM mirror
Open the window all the way and gently pry out the tweeter or cover (depending on what model you have) with your hand. You don't need tools.
Carefully move the tweeter to the side being careful not to put the wiring out. You'll see three 8mm nuts. Carefully take them out. The one closest to the corner is tight. Be careful or you could drop it into the door.
All you do is undo those 3 nuts and wiggle the mirror housing right out. Don't forget to unplug your power connection from the mirror 1st! I didn't take pics of the next part, but all you do is remove the rubber gasket from the mirror and unscrew the 3 mounting studs. Then screw those studs into the new housing and reverse order for install.
I did paint my mirrors OEM G-82P-5 with paint from www.paintscratch.com. ($34 shipped) Their paint is really good and very close. You have to account that the cars original paint has the normal wear and tear. The only thing about ordering a spray can is that they have to ship it ground and it took 9 days to cross the country. So I sanded down the mirrors, primed, colored and cleared. I took my time so I could get all the joints so when I fold the mirrors, there is no black showing. Yeah, they're power mirror/ manual fold, but it was a lot cheaper then the real thing and I get the same effect.
Here is a pic up close
Another one
Folded ( I think it looks pretty cool when parked)
And the front view
I still have to buff it out with some compound and follow up with some wax, but I need to wait a few more weeks so the paint can cure. Once that is done, it should shine up just like the rest of the car.
Comments welcome!
