Factory Alarm Problem

Car in question is a 1997 Civic EX.
I've had this car for close to 4 years and never had a problem related to the security alarm.
Last night, the anti theft alarm would not disarm for any of the following:

• Pressing the unlock button on the remote (with full battery)
• Locking then unlocking the diver/passanger door with the original key
• Pressing the disarm button on the factory radio

There are two things I noticed that are different from before:

1. The dome light was flickering the first time I tried to disarm the alarm with my remote and
2. The LED "clown nose" is blinking twice every two seconds. It used to be a blink every 2 seconds.

The dome no longer flickers, it does nothing.
I have not done anything to my car to cause this strange reaction. I'm convinced my car is of the female gender.
