few questions before i buy

alright, made a few calls around to people selling civics. gonna check a few out. both 96 SI's (US Ex)

had a few questions suspension wise. Im getting one as a commuter. I drive 3 hours a day to and from work (round trim) 180 miles, so i need a car good on gas, hence the civic.

anyways, i live in a small town where the roads arent paved, and usually some nice bumps dips and potholes. now is there some kind of suspension that wont lower the car, but make it handle those bumps and potholes better? i had an escort before i sold it to my brother and it would take some hard hits and its higher than a civic.

just curious, sorry for asking so many questions before i even go test drive one.

You'll most likely be the best off with stock suspension since it has the softest spring rates. And stick with stock tires. Lower profile tires will ride more harsh.

Tokico Illumina shocks are adjustable. Get the stock replacement and you could adjust accordingly.

Or drive it and see if the stock suspension works.

its definately staying on stock sized rubber and steelies haha.

the manuals a good car to learn how to drive stick in? either ill have to get someone to test drive it and drive it home, or learn right then and there lmao

Very easy car to learn in as long as the clutch isn't too worn. Even then, the pedal is still VERY soft. I've driven my friend's 06 GTO and another friend's '11 WRX and the pedals are monsters compared to my Civic.

I think that H&R sells a spring that lowers less than an inch, but performs better. I may be wrong tho.

I just looked them up. Its the H&R sport OE springs, says it lowers .75". I have never had experience with them so I don't know what the real drop is, but sounds like a good option and H&R is a good name.

Like I said before, a softer spring rate will ride less harsh. The higher the spring rate, the harder the ride.

I think stock suspension is your best bet. Just drive slower and try to avoid pot holes, bumps, etc. That's what I do. I look like I'm drunk on shitty roads because I'm all over the place.
