anyone else playing the open beta?

Wife and I have been playing off and on as we can since it opened.

It's enjoyable, wife was an FFXI nut so she's excited. Right now I'm working Lancer, her; Conjurer. The lag sucks but otherwise fairly solid game so far. Just need to fix that and some targeting issues mainly I think.

I remember FFXI was a shitty grind through the levels... and solo play wasn't really an option. You had to rely on a group (which I could never find.) Have these issues been addressed in FFXIV?

FFXIV has been quite soloable thus far... then again, i'm only rank 3... when you do a guildleve (writ) you get a choice of 5 difficulty options. i was able to solo mobs at a 3 star rating (meant for a party), so i dunno.

the PS3 beta was a selective thing a while back. i have a friend who's been playing.

WoW is enough for me, but a friend is on the windows beta of XIV and she played a bit for me. i'm not sure i'll play at all, actually. i think the UI is terrible. things like mining and synthesizing would get monotonous reeeeeeally quick, and where a lot of things are streamlined in WoW, it takes 83927593 clicks to do in XIV. since i game on my laptop, and i don't like mice, it'd drive me nuts.

but it sure is suuuuuper pretty, and the emotes are fantastic. i took a pic of the kitty girl doing furious. freaking tail in the air... hilarious.

targeting system sucks balls... the game is laggy as hell... there's no content whatsoever in the beta, except for a few writs/guildleves... plus what's this about capping your grinding?

nono... not a level cap... a grinding cap... where you get xp fatigue and must wait x amount of time before its effects wear off and you can actually gain xp again.
