My 96 ex automatic got really boring really fast. It took me a couple years but i finally got to where i could afford to fix all that. I wanted a DOHC vtec powerplant and a manual transmission but didnt know what to get. I decided to get the 92-95 SiRII setup from a dispatched civic in Japan. This would be the most bolt in swap i could do apart from the USDM B16A2 which has less power. Anyway i got one with the limited slip which helps bring the price up some more. And while i was at it i just went ahead and splurged on the Exedy 3-puck clutch and a 2nd gen V-AFC. Lacking the proper tools and experience to install this myself, and adding the fact that i want it to work correctly the first time and be under warranty, i decided to have my trusted shop to do the swap. Anyway the results make me nothing short of happy. The parts guy at this shop wanted to do something special for me and had my valve cover powder coated at no expense. He didnt know i wanted to keep the black/silver theme under the hood but i guess i cant complain.

We have determined the lower dyno numbers are due to the dual exhaust and stock header and cat and such. Ill see what happens when i replace all that.

Over five grand in all, very steep but necessary for where i want to be able to take the car. I plan to build the motor and turbo it and everything. For now just getting used to the difference between and auto and a 5spd is keeping my very satisfied.

It all looks good. The valve cover is tough.

the 5 grand is parts and labor, the expensive part was the conversion, labor on it was like 1500

1500 sounds about average for that conversion...good stuff you have there though.

i was thinking the same thing....not to put the dude down or anything. coz i'd really love to swap my motor for a b-series. but 5 g's for a swap..or yet, 5 g's for an extra wut, 17 hp's? (from a stock 127 hp d16y8) doesn't look worth 5 g's. but then again, once u build it up, it's gonna be the shizznitt...but in my opinion...it's still won't convince me that the swap is worth it. anyhoo...nice swap, hope i can do that some day. and no offense i hope.

financially worth it? no. aesthetically? yes. the extremes i woulda had to go through to build a sohc for 300+hp to the ground isnt quite as much as with the B. The 5 spd swap made all the difference! i was seriously missin out. the guys have built several cars at the shop that did this swap and everyone who drove it came back with a huge grin and were all impressed. the fact that i went from an anemic 100hp to the ground to close to 150 and a huge difference in torque and on top of all that the drivetrain conversion the car feels all about performance and i cant get enough of 8,200RPMs! it did cost more than necessary, but im very pleased with the outcome.

those gauges are from ractive, they are electro-luminecent carbon fiber blue
