Hey guys, story goes as this..
Last night me and my neighbor were lighting fireworks from his backyard, he lit a sparkler bomb near my fence and melted ductape went everywhere. Today, I get a call from my grandpa telling me theres a fire at my house. I rush home as fast as I can.. and see the fence was on fire along with the local Fire Department putting it out with my hose. Turns out fireworks started the fence fire and me and my neighbor both get tickets for it, while he trys taking all the blame for it. We both have court dates now for July 28th and 1:30, Is there any way to fight this and get it dropped? The officer told me to call the county attorney and talk to them about it and take pictures of the new fence put up.

Thanks for any help you guys give me.

Be a man, and take responsibility. Doesn't matter if you didn't light the fireworks, you were there, you could have stopped him from doing it. You're luck it didn't catch another house on fire and kill someone, otherwise you'd be up for murder or manslaughter.

If i changed my story as mucch as you i'd be found guilty!!

Just goto court and explain yourself. If you get slapped with the fine anyways, dont b***h, just pay it and be on your way.

I don't know about where you guys live.. but where I live it's fairly common to light fireworks off in front of your house around the 4th. You guys all act like he committed some sort of insane unheard of crime.

If his neighbor is trying to take all of the blame, then OP obviously, probably is not to blame. Now does anybody actually have any helpful legal advice for him?

I don't think anyone is caring that he was lighting fireworks before the 4th. Everyone does that. I think everyone is upset that he is trying to get out of a ticket. He clearly stated in his first post that he and his neighbor were lighting them and then he witnesses his neighbor lighting a sparkler bomb wrapped in duct tape which melts and causes a fire.

That is what everyone is getting on him about. Now, he is changing his story? Which should we believe? I'll be like a cop and go with his original statement. I also wouldn't care if his friend is taking all the blame. He originally states he witnessed it.

Regardless if this is true or not, based off his original statement, he is guilty and should pay up to it.

Thank you.., god.. everyones all butthurt on here and acting like I commited a murder.
I was just wondering if there was any possability of getting out of it by calling the county attorney? The cop even told me too..

EDIT: The cop didn't even write on the ticket what I did.. :what:

None of this makes any sense at all. First of all....make sure you keep your story straight when you go to court. If you make a slip like you did on here, you will be screwed. As far as you "getting away" with something....I couldnt care less, especially since you lit your own s**t on fire.

Regardless of what the issue is, someone should own up to their actions. If you didnt do anything wrong, and your neighbor is owning up to it....then good for him. If you lit it or witnessed it, whatever...Im not going to be the moral police tonight....Im too tired.

As far as legal advice....thats impossible to give over the internet. Its dependent on SOO many different variables that need to be accounted for. Do what the attorney told you to, thats the best thing you can do. Question though...first you said you were there, then said you werent, then you said the cop didnt write on the ticket "what you did".....if you werent there then what did you do that the cop could have written down? And what exactly is it that you were charged with?
