My car is completely stock and my goal is to go autocross/canyon driving. What should be my first mod on the car? My current play money is about 200 bucks. I know my car is slow and I don't have enough money for a new engine. I was thinking more of suspension or stabalizing. (ie. strut, sway, spring, etc.) I basically want my car to handle well. Any input? Thanks.:D

ok.. first of all save your money. Get some good coilovers (Ground Control's are good and will run you around $300 from GC themselves), and get Koni/Neuspeed Yellow shocks. You'll be riding great then.

if you have a goal, then i would say just save so you can get what you really need (ie, put that money towards a full suspension setup) if you spend the money in little amounts, you may get a lot of stuff, but they may not all work together to achieve what you want. (what im saying is if you spend 200 now on something, then 200 later, you may have been better off saving the first time and getting something a little better for the 400)

Well regarding sway bars, EX, SI, and the HX only come stock with a front sway. I was thinking of getting SI front sway and a CTR rear sway.

save up, and start with suspension, your car will feel quicker, because power will be put down more efficiently.

lowering your car will just make your car have a rough ride. before you drop the car. save some money so you can get some shocks/struts at the same time .so when you put them in, you can have a lower car with handling and smooth ride.

The Si front sway bar requires you to change the front lower control arms, forks, and endlinks. That'll probably take all the $200 if you can find the parts for used. The difference is a 26mm vs your stock 22mm.

For an more immediate great effect on handling, a rear sway bar might do the trick. Be warn though, having a big rear sway bar can lead to oversteer. And make sure you having proper mounting or it can rip outta your subframe.

Or you can just get a regular short ram intake, and a Si (GSR.. they're both same) stock strut bars... and those cheapy eBay rear upper/lower tie bar, you can actually find a whole package, upper/lower front and backs for only $50. I know people says it's cheap, but unless you are really serious about competing in autocrossing, the cheap items will work... they're only strut bars. It will help stiffen up your chassis, but the body roll will still be there.... hell, go with the rear sway bar.

Here's even a link to an auction of a used Civic Type R rear sway bar, with bushings and endlinks.
