Hey guys i wanna start makin my first build but i need some help (i have a 00 civic ex)i wanna make from 450-550 hp but idk which motor to choose ive done some research n i knw k series are expensive but worth it (or so ive heard) n yhe b series is cheap but really good aswell.. now i dnt wanna make more than 600 whp...
My maim question is.. would i have to make any mayor mods on any my car to fit any of those motors... if so which one would be less trouble building..
N whats an estimate on how much money i would invest in it??

Thnx for any help

Boost a b series, the k is u have to relocate the passenger motor mount and some other stuff think the b series just drops right in with the right motor mounts of course

Estimate about 3k maybe more since i know the mounts for the b are about 350 bucks and thats hasport mounts, and why wantso much hp? Are you going to daily it

Why not just work with what you already have, the money you save by not swapping can be used to sleeve your stock motor and boost it. 450-500 on stock sleeves is pushing it unless its a k series, but then your looking at 6k+ for a k swap

I would like to daily drive it... but i have more cars so it wouldnt really matter...

N the reason i dnt upgrade what i have its because i doubt i can get that much hp wit a d16y8

you would be surprised, you should head over to d-series.org and check it out if you dont think a built single cam can handle that much hp

Ive seen a couple 700hp d16 and there are quite a few in the 500hp range, all you need for that range on a d16 is rods pistons to about 400hp then you need sleeves around 450hp range

Is there a reason why you want that much horsepower? That much horsepower is useless on the street since you'll most likely have traction problems. Unless you plan on taking it to the track and having a way to tune on different maps for daily and track use, I'd stick to the 3-350 hp range, which would make more sense. No use having 500 hp when all you're doing is spinning tire.

its kind of hard to say on the price because it depends on the parts that you want. Piecing together your own kit will be cheaper than buying a kit but it also depends on if you know what you're doing as well. Research some more and find out what you really need in the kit then budget out your build. It really depends on the tune. Everyone is going to stress how important the tuning is. Without the proper tuning, a fully built motor with the best turbo kit will be useless. The K series and B series will be good starter motors for that power. Personally I would go B series and then spend the money you'll save from not doing the k series and put that towards the turbo kit.

all you need for 3-350hp is rods, pistons, arp head studs and a turbo kit with a decent sized turbo. for rods and pistons your looking at anywhere from $300-12000 just for the parts, if you cant do the work yourself your probably looking at another $500 for labor. you can get a turbo setup for $1500-4000 it all depends which parts you get for a good price and how many parts you buy new vs used.

idk its probably just a messed up ecu, or its been chipped and tuned but i doubt that.
