First manual vehicle and I dont think I'm going back

I recently traded in a Nissan Armada and purchased a 2012 Si sedan back in October. I could've waited for the 2013 but I was too impatient. All in all I love it. I dont think I ever want to go back to an automatic. It definitely took me a few tries driving a manual practically for the first time and I'm still learning about the dynamics of when to shift and when not to shift. I definitely have some questions in reference to pulling out in 1st and rev matching. When you are pulling out in 1st do you give it gas once you feel the clutch catch or is it ok to give it alittle gas before you release the clutch? I guess what I am getting at is what is considered clutch abuse or birning out your clutch?

You want to apply gas evenly as you release the clutch. But it should be so quick you shouldnt notice.

I blip the throttle a few times lightly while releasing the clutch
A lot of people do that. I drive a manual focus sometimes, and I usually let the clutch off high and give it quarter throttle, and it goes smoothly out of first easily.

What I tell everyone who is learning to drive standard.

*Whomp*Steady*Release*

One quick blip, steady easy throttle, slowly let the clutch out. Once it begins to grab, roll slowly into the throttle. If its too much throttle, just stay with it to avoid RAH RAH rah *stall*.
