what's up? my name is Mike, and I drive a 97 EJ8 auto.

i spent most of yesterday trying to figure out my AC system, and installing my Hayden tranny cooler.

the verdict on the AC system is that its toast. so, the next time i get a free day, i'm going to start yanking everything associated with it. i guess i'll get a little weight savings out of it, and a cleaner looking engine bay.

as far as the tranny cooler goes, it was fairly easy to install. hardest part was undoing the factory fittings and routing the new hoses. i don't have a tranny temp gauge to be able to monitor any changes, but it definitely should benefit the car, and keep tranny temps much cooler.

anyways, on to the pics for those of you still reading: ;)

enjoy!

yeah, i try to keep things in order. not too hard to follow the forum titles, lol.

future plans include lowering on KYB AGX and Eibach Pro-Kit, 16" Rota Circuit 8's in steel gray, JDMsh*t CTR front lip, paint sides to match, possibly Si tails, Si rear sway bar, Si rear disc swap, and then to top it all off, probably slap on a Jackson Racing S/C.

oh yeah, i also need to replace my cracked exhaust manifold, so a header will be somewhere in there, not sure what brand yet, and the header will guide the exhaust gases out the back via an Apexi World Sport cat-back

or just pretend to know, lol. no, i've been visiting a couple other honda boards, just trying to find the right places to hang out. CC looks like a good board so far. ;) i've only had my EJ for about 2 weeks now, but i'm trying to learn everything i can, and come up with a good plan in the beginning, that way i don't end up wasting money on stupid crap and having to redo things all the time like i did with my old Cavalier.

1st thing i would say to do is really think about the whole auto thing, do you really want a nice looking car that runs 18's... i really wish i could go back and take the money i put nito my auto and save it up to get a stick (either a conversion or just a whole different car) and fix that up, i thnik my car looks great but performance and the fun-to-drive factor is a big disapointment
anyways if you do stick with the auto, that thing looks clean and i do like your plans as far as you've listed

well, right now i'm just finishing my sophomore year of college, and i bought this car so i could something reliable to drive for the rest of my time here. so, for now i'm going to stick to some nice subtle exterior mods, and some suspension goodies. most likely the JRSC won't come until i finish school anyways, and by that time if the auto tranny blows up, i could swap in a 5-speed. i do realize the 5-speeds are a lot faster, and stronger, but right now the auto is doing me fine.

the other option i have is to build the heck out of the auto tranny, going through Level 10 with their rebuild kit and torque converter, but in the end i think it would be more fun to have a 5-speed again. but, like i said, the auto will do for now. i just drive the car around town, to school and work, etc. i'm not going to be taking it down the 1/4 mile as it is, because i know its going to run in the 17's-18's.
