Hey guys i just bought my first civic 2 weeks ago its a 99 civic ex coupe bone stock with 206147 miles. Any suggestions on the first mods. Something not all that expensive im still in high school guys
i wanna add an exhaust but not a rice exhaust like the ones that sounds like a pissed off bee. I want one that sounds deep and not annoying to listen to. Maybe a cold air or short ram intake. most def i want to lower it. New rims for sure probably number one on my list is rims then the rest will follow.
I like to start with looks myself, but my first mod on a honda would be a good alarm. If you want to keep it sounding decent something like a magnaflow oval would be a nice move. They are strait through but have lots of packing to keep the sound reasonable. You can just get one welded on in place of the stock muffler, or look for an axle back.
Sounds like a good idea. I want to put a front lip and a back lip to match the side skirts, and i like this green so it needs a good detail to get it to shine like it once did. Also some window tint especially here in Texas that gets hot.
The guy did an oil change the same day i bought it he had paperwork from Firestone and he used synthetic oil, i haven't inspected belts yet, but ive checked the fluids all fine. Ive planned a tune up within the next 2 months. The car has been taken care of very well im the third owner the first owners had it since it was new until late 2011 then the 2nd owner had until march of this year. The first owners were senior citizens who towed this car behind their RV most of the time hence the high miles but the interior is immaculate besides sun fading everything is super clean all original except the radio which is very nice. The owners manual has all the maintenance spaces stamped with a reputable local shop around here with all the scheduled maintenance. Checked the carfax car is clean as can be. The engine compartment looks pretty clean so does everything else tires are good no leaks no nothing.
Like someone else said, I'd do any maintenance first before modifying. But before modifying, you want to set some goals. Otherwise you'll be wasting money throwing on parts you may end up taking off or selling later. Budget, power goals, cosmetic goals, what purpose will the car serve, etc.
I had my Civic for about a Month now and heres what I did so far.
Suspension..
Tune Up..
Still figuring out what problems it has mechanically and technically, then will be moving on to the exterior of the car. For being in HS I say save your money up til you have enough to spend on it, and then when you have the money start buying the stuff you want or need. Price everything out so you have a good idea of how much you would be needing to spend on the car. I've been saying I'm supposed to be working on the car but really nothing has been done to it due to working to much!
Ive had mine for 3 months and put kyb shocks with eibach springs arm sri vibrant muffler front/rear strut bars new radio speakers amp sub and regular maintance guy replace timing at 111000 car has 126000 i love it
