fitting oem 99-00 tails.

i just got a 2000 civic ex. It had the chrome euro tails on it so i put an add on Craigslist trade for OEM 99-00 tails. I got the tails today and installed them the right side fits perfect but goes in a Lil bit to far and the left side trunk piece is sticking out enough to say hey your taillights aren't even with each other. is there anyway to fix this problem? or are 99 tails different then 2000 tails? thanks!

Coupe or sedan? For the sedan tails, I believe the inner ones are interchangeable but not the outer ones. For coupe, it should fit perfectly.

edit - Sorry it's the other way around lol. I knew it was one way. The outers are the same, the inners are different.

Are they OEM taillights or aftermarket replicas? If the taillight sticks in too far use a rubber or foam washer.

okay so i was taking the taillight off and i noticed the right side taillights are black plastic and the left outer is black plastic but the inner left side is grey plastic. so this might be the knockoff part i tryed pushing the taillight frame in but that didn't work so i'm on the lookout for a left inner black plastic piece.
