fitv problem

Ok so I had rough and high idle and was told to try cleaning the fitv and plunger. Did so and put back together and the car runs even worse and makes light tick when running. Did I screw the plunger to far in? When I took it apart ithe was about half way unscrewed. Is it possible I screwed it too far in?

It should be screwed all the way in. If it's not, it can become too loose and cause a vacuum leak.

Test the FITV:

With the engine cold, pull off the intake. Turn the car on, and put a finger over the bottom hole inside the throttle body with your finger. You should feel a suction.

Wait for the car to reach normal operating temp, then do the same thing. You should feel very little to no suction at all. If you do, the FITV isn't working properly.

If it is working properly, try cleaning the IACV and the TB too. The tick sort of concerns me though, as that could be your valves needing a slight adjustment.
