Fixed brake lights that stayed on

Just bought a 1993 DX Civic and am ironing out all the problems as they appear. When I parked it last night I saw that the brake lights were still on. After much research I figured out it was the broken brake pedal switch part that is supposed to press the switch to turn off the lights when you let up on the pedal. I read about many fixes from bubble gum, erasers to nuts and bolts but you know what they say about if you can't duct it!

a nut and short bolt is the easiest and longest lasting way to fix that issue.

Thanks, I have plenty of hardware to rummage through, and if it keeps me from going to the dealer for parts, I am all for it!

Update

I installed a bolt and nut, but my cruise control did not work. I was at the junk yard looking for other parts and grabbed the part off a wrecked civic. That did the trick. Maybe I had the wrong size bolt.
