Last I checked the only one who can take away your licence is the Provence. They may suspend your insturance though.

i had my licence taken away for dui.. take your accident to court and tell the judge that u need your licence to get to work.. they should be able to give u a permit that will alow u only to drive from work to home.. (well as far as they know your only going from work to home). thats what i did and they game me like a temp permit.

honestly i think that is rediculous!!!! dude! your insurance company cannot take your licence!!! sorry man but licences are government issued, private companies cannot take them away, only the police or other govt organizations can.. im from canada too i have a buddyand sister that rear ended someone... first you get charged with careless driving and get 6 points. if you bother to show up in court and apologise, it is almost standard practice that the judge will lower the charge to following to closely and 3 or 4 points. i have seen this in 3 different cases. You might loose your insurance provider but simple get another one. your insurance rate will be crazy expensive but thats what you get for putting your car in someones ass. I know its shitty and 99% of the time it is an honset mistake but thats Canada for ya. your insurance rate will be really high until you either get married or turn 25, so good lick finding a wife till you are 25 lol. if you have any more questions ask me again but defintely DO NOT surrender your licence to your insurance provider. good luck man. also, if you still have the chance, take it to court, you have 30 days approxametly to choose to, if you arent past that then go to court and admit to what you did but say that you have learned from your experience and promise that you will be much more careful next time. just accept responasbility and most jusges will have mercy on you. i have been pulled over 13 times in 3 years but have only paid 3 small tickets and have 2 points on my licence, beleive me, if you take the time to go to court it will work out in your favour. good luck man

Here is your real factual answer :

The Insurance company can take your liscense because you live in Saskatchewan. In Saskatchewan, insurance for automobiles is controlled by the government to keep prices at a minimum. In reality, it is the province taking your liscense, not the insurance company, but they are the same entity. There are a million reasons why they could've taken your liscense, like careless driving. If you're a young driver, taking your liscense away is a great way for the province to save money because now you won't be rear ending anyone. You havn't told us exactly what happened, but

Yes, the insurance company can take your liscense Saskatchewan.

?

so you are saying that because the sask govt reserves the right to put price caps on insurance to make driving more affordable for its citizens that it is the insurance company. And that they are the same entity because they work together? not sure man, all i know is that since licences are govt issued and insurance providers are associated with the private sector that you cannot be forced to render your licence to the insurance comapny at any time.

so you are saying that because the sask govt reserves the right to place caps on insurance prices thus keeping the cots of living down for residents of sask that they are the insurance company? thus they are different entities, the government is concerned with keeping costs to a minimum whereas companies in the private sector, like insurance providers, are concerned with providing insurance, which obviously is a must. And again he cannot lose his licence just for a carreless driving offence. MAybe dangerous driving which is an inditable offence but not just careless driving... and the fact that you think that the govt saves $$ if less ppl drive and get into accidentsis also incorrect, a great source of revenue is generated form fines based in the comission of driving offences, like accidents.
