freaking cluster! I NEED HELPPP

okie so when i bought my 96 civic dx the cluster lights wouldnt turn on at all.. i would have a hard time looking at the cluster at night to see how fast im going or if i need gas or w.e... so today i picked up an EX cluster (comes with the RPM) from the junk yard... i was so happy to put it on thinking the lights were going to work.. apperently everything worked exstep for the lights... for example when i turn on my headlights at night my cluster lights would not turn on... i checked all the fuses.. ughh! what could it be??? i need help

Do they work at all on either cluster or just very very dim?

Bad dimmer switch. Happened to me. Started out with all or nothing, no dim. Then it went to completely out. Replaced the dimmer and it works fine.

i bought a new dimmer cuz i thought dat will solve the problem in the 1st cluster.. but then i seen that it didnt help at all & theres no type of light in it.. its aggravating

I would take it out and test it with a ac-12dc power supply from your wall, or you could use your car battery i guess. anyways, put the positive and negative on the back and see if the bulbs light up, then you would know at least whether the problem was in your gauges or not.
