front upper strut bar Q

does anyone know if a DC sports front upper strut bar for a Ex (y8) would work on a Dx (y7)? It looks like the bar would hit the intake because it comes up not sidways... any help is appreciated.

it wont fit, the intake is in the way.... unless you just remove your intake tubing (not a good idea)

damn... thats what I thought but i wasn't sure... I know APC makes one but i refuse to by anything from them... know any other brands that would make one?

Swap out your dx intake manifold for an ex mani [d16y8]...then it will fit. There used to be a how to on this site but I can't seem to find it.

yeah i guess i could do that... now I would just have to find all the parts for it... I can't even find a fender for a '97 at a junk yard.. i think the intake mani would be harderto find

the only ones I have seen that make a bar spacific to the Y7 is APC and like I said I won't buy anything from them

Get an intake, a cheap one if you'd like and any strut bar should fit. The stock Si (GSR) strut bar runs into the filter box, but without it, it's fine.

yeah, if you get an aftermarket intake they all should fit. i got a similar set up

Swap out the intake mani (it's not that hard)... it'll give you a better selection of upper strut bars.

ok that pic helps a lot... I already have an intake (short ram) awsome... and i guess worse case senario i buy the dc sports one and if it doesn't fit than i have a reason to swap to a Y8 intake mani. I mean damn I already am doing the exhaust swap i might as well do to intake too...

I have a neuspeed or areospeed (lol don't remember) bar with my D16Y7.. I had to install it in a rotated way, but it fit perfectly.

thanks for the link... Eventually I want to do a turbo which I havn't seen one yet for a DX... at least not one where you don't have to change the intake mani... so, I am looking at Edelbrocks kit, it comes with a new intake mani so all i would need would be a new throtle body ( i think) but that will not be for a long time... thanks for all of your help guys
