Hey guys, I'm about ready to throw in the towel. Here it is.
94 civic ex
D16Z6

Repairs done.
New luk clutch kit to include
Clutch
Pressure plate
Release bearing
Pilot bearing
New flywheel
Alignment took was a little loose but I held center while tightening present plate
Had to oversize hole on pressure plate a little to accommodate flywheel pin

New slave cylinder
Rebuilt stock s-20 tranny all OEM
Adjusted pedal play to helms specs. Doing it again right now
Bled the whole system
Pulled tranny twice due to the same symptoms reoccurring

Symptoms
Clutch slipping
A noise which sounds like some sort of air leak when depressing clutch pedal
I also switched out forks

It would be nice if someone was around Hesperia ca to look at it or at least stop me from pouring gasoline on her. Thank you:cussing:

Do you a leak in your clutch lines anywhere? Did you properly break in the new clutch?

No leaks but I did replace the slave cylinder. I believe it was sticking in the open position. I haven't even got it back on the road yet. Not sure if I got a defective piece in the clutch kit. I bought a clutch fork and a release fork bolt just to be safe. Maybe a little grease came off of input shaft onto clutch. I didn't put a lot on just enough to lube the splines. Thanks for the response I appreciate it.

Details? Video? Are you unable to drive the car? Is the pedal spongy? Does the pedal fall to the floor?

Where is this noise coming from? Can you post a video with sound?

Here's a link I'm mobile so I can't pull it up.

Clutch was spongy, I'm bleeding it again but the pedal is getting better.
I adjusted free play to 6.5 inches from floor.
Pulled tranny and replacing fork and release fork bolt.

Clutch half way in-slips
1-5 gears parking brake on it doesn't stall till almost fully engaged.

1) Gotta get ALL air out of the hydraulic system.

2) Recheck your pedal height adjustment. To do it right, you need to pull the carpet back.

3) Check for grease on the flywheel and clutch disk.

The noise seems like it coming from the rack and pinion in the center of the firewall. But I'm super new to this the sound might be the clutch slipping I've never heard a clutch slip before.

OK thanks I'm vacuum bleeding it as we speak and I will re check pedal height and the flywheel. I'll get back with update shortly. Cool appreciated

On the new pressure plate that I received with the kit one of the pin holes was a little off. Keeping the other two from seating. Its possible that it could have been forced on there but I doubt it. Not without distorting the plate itself. The holes were 5/16 in diameter and I drilled them to 3/8 in diameter.

Before I put it back together should I be concerned with the disk or the plate. The plate seems a little suspect. Maybe uneven. Not sure. Thanks

I have to say that your need to drill any hole larger to fit raises a huge red flag. You should seriously consider getting the stock equivalent of an Exedy clutch.

I was a little concerned as well. Everything lines up but the more I think about it the more I want to send it back to luk. I had done a little research but not enough. I didn't want to go with an eBay one either. I'm going to take your advice. Thanks for your time and I'll keep you posted.

OK I went and got the exedy clutch kit last night. I'm thinking the extra 100 was worth it. Finished putting the tranny in laaaaaate last night. This morning I added the synchromesh and bled the clutch and she's running beautifully. Thanks for the advice it helped. I have been taught that you never put a thread locker on a low torque bolt and no where in the Helms does it say to put thread locker on the pressure plate. Any thoughts?

Glad to hear you got this resolved. The fact you had to drill anything in that kit is alarming, and would have raised red flags immediately for me. Exedy is the way to go!
Thread locker shouldn't be used on low-torque bolts. I use it on high heat bolts (used high heat thread locker on turbo manifold bolts on an Integra I owned, that's about it). Just torque to spec and it'll be fine.
I don't own a Honda anymore, but hit me up on here if you ever get stuck again. I'm not the most well-versed mechanic, but I can lend a hand as much as I can.

Right on thanks again. I didn't use the thread locker but I hear a lot of people telling other people to make sure and use it. Not a good idea on the low torque end.
