Fuel delivery or headwork???

I have just been informed that there is a good chance my bottom end rebuild is going to be cheaper than expected. What I want to do is use that money for my fuel delivery system.

HOWEVER, when pulling my motor a week or so ago, I noticed the #'s from the motor don't match the car. So I really have NO idea how many miles are on it. Bottom end will be ok since it's getting a full rebuild, my paranoia is the head.

So my question is, should I go for the fuel delivery if it ends up being cheaper like I am hoping, or should I spend the money on a new valvetrain and then get the fuel delivery setup???

depending on how much psi you are running too
you have a small turbo kit but i never ran 310cc's..thats more of an all motor injector in my eyes..i never used anything lower than 450cc's on any of the cars i've worked on..depends on your tuning and what percentage the duty cycle will be tuned at

yeah the turbo isn't very big, but it's adequate...i really haven't driven the car much since it was boosted, I think the tune wasn't as good as I thought. I'm a little ignorant as to the duty cycle portion of ur comment, wut do you mean exactly?? I don't plan on running it over 10 lbs for quite a while...but rt now it's been @ 6-7bs...just a lil nervous since I saw the #s didn't match...

Gotcha, good info, thanks. I'll know a lil bit more when the head comes off.

Head should be okay

would NOT hurt to install new valve guides and valve seals, along with a minimal head shave to "true" the surface

Your fuel pump, if its original to a 99-00 SI, can support roughly 300whp on 45PSI fuel rail pressure

I highly recommend a WALBRO 190 fuel pump if you expect less then 450whp

the WALBRO 255 is loud as hell and most people NEVER see a real need to go with the 255

that is awesome info!! Thnx!! Yeah, I wasn't expecting to need the 255...and tops I am shootin for 350...a good bit down the road even...

the head is being squared up @the machine shop, don't know wut kinda shape the springs, etc are in yet. Will find out next week

iuf you are shooting for 350whp and expecting to STOP there, grab the Walbro 190 and install it asap.

Make it one of those "install and forget" things.

Would be a good time to check the fuel hoses/lines going from the motor to the tank.

When I installed a walbro 255 on my del sol, I had trouble keeping the return hose clamped on until I bought a new screw clamp.

the stock pressure/squeeze clamp sucked balls for real

I HAVE A SET OF BRAND NEW SUPERTECH BRONZE VALVE GUIDES IF YOU WANT I WILL SELL FOR $75

and for the head it will be just fine but you need to get those bigger injectors maybe 660 or 550 cc 2 b safe

f**k that

if he eventually wants 350whp, he needs 700 or 750cc injectors to stay away from max duty cycle

I miiite go after those guides. Not totally sure yet

And I have been looking into the 750cc Rc's...Apparently the 255 is way overkill so this thread has helped so far!!!

Besides, 350 out of a 1.6 is pretty damn good IMO, now I just gotta get there
