Fuel Leak at Fuel Filter Inlet

I recently changed out the fuel filter on my 99 Civic DX sedan. There was three copper washers included, one on top and one below the outlet fuel line connection, and a third smaller which I assumed was for the inlet side connection. At any rate, the fuel line now leaks at the fuel filter inlet connection. I've since found out that the third washer was either for the outlet side or another model. I took the washer out and it still leaks, quite a bit now. I must have compressed either the fuel line flared fitting or the fuel filter with the washer in there. Now I need to find a way to stop the leak. I tried some Permatex hi temp sealant which worked for about 5 minutes. Any ideas short of replacing a section of fuel line?

Those washers are pretty soft are you sure you damaged the fuel line itself?

make sure the washer hasnt been crushed .. those fittings dont need to be tightened down to an insane torque rating
