first check you grounds near the fuel tank, then also check plugs on back of speedo assembly, then look into fuel sending unit (not pump but sender, it controls the gauge) ;)

check your fuses, and double check the bulbs (the filament is REAL small) using a magnafying glass or something like that

TXs! but it work properly before i disasebled the dash completely for clean it and replace bulbs.
In First time, the indicator was in more than "F" only until the ignition was OFF. When the ignition was ON all worked OK.
The fuel was consumed and when the tank was ion the middle the indicator works properly whit the ignition ON or OFF..
Now, i´ve 1/4 of tank filled and the problem is inverted. The indicator indicate lower than "E". Remember...only until the ignition was OFF. When the ignition was ON all work OK.
I was reading the Helms Technical Manual, and it says "The fuel gauge is a bobbin (cross-coil) type, hence the fuel level is continuously indicatedeven when the ignition switch is OFF, and the pointer moves more slowly than that of a bimetal type."

check your fuses.more than likley that what it s. if not then find a friend who has the same car and switch clusters and see if his works. if it does then just get a new one. =)

i'm not sure about your gauge, but mine is a floater (meaning when ya turn the corner it changes till you level back out) doesn't sound like anything is wrong to me as long as it is correct when the ignition is on
