Gas gauge

New civie, everything is functioning perfectly except my gas gauge which can fluctuate from F to half a tank depending on my car's incline or speed. Anybody know how to fix this problem without spending too much?

I have the same issue as you. I try to keep it below 2k rpms so my gas gauge will say full [;

Thats pretty common with Civics, nothing much you can really do about it going up and down.
Edit: Thats actually pretty common with alot of cars.

Yeah my gauge does this too. I've realized that shifting thru the gears makes the gauge go down, but once I'm back at a consistent speed it goes back to where it truly should be. I was driving my dad's 5 speed ford ranger the other day and his gauge does that too. Maybe it's more common in manual trannys? My old Intrepid didn't do it and it was of course automatic.

I went on a 6 hour car ride with someone with a 99 Civic Ex? Auto, and he knows I drive a 5sp that isn't much different. While he was driving he actually asked me about it because at the time his gas gauge was moving as he drove. I don't think it's just mt related. Any vehicle will do it depending on the sensitivity of the float in the gas tank. Some newer cars maybe have a lag so that doesn't appear like its moving as much. Its just the gas moving around in the tank. You speed up and it all goes to the back. You slow down it goes forward. You stay constant it levels out. Park on a hill facing up then park facing down. Than if you park on level ground you will see the same exact effect on every car. It's just our cars are pretty sensitive and show it more than others might.
