gauge cluster question

for those of you who have swapped your stock cluster for one out of another car, or for an aftermarket unit, how do you keep track of mileage? especially if you're going from MPH to KPH?

i've thought about swapping clusters in mine, but is there a way to retain your stock odometer readings? and if so, is it possible to still keep track of your odometer readings in MILES rather than KILOMETERS?

thanks to any who reply.

well, an easy math is this:

30mph = 50KMph
60mph = 100KMph

i drive a little ford pickup around making deliveries for the local auto parts place, and i've been studying the speedo which has speeds listed in mph/kph, trying to establish what x mph= x kph, lol.

if and when i end up getting it, i'll probably make myself a little note and stick it on the dash until i can memorize the different speeds.

any ideas about the mileage?

If I were to do that, I would take the new cluster reading and +/- from your actual mileage. Then put a piece of tape or secure a note to the back of the new cluster to say something like "Add/ Subtract xx miles for actual mileage" It's easy and you won't have to keep track of it until you sell off the car. But I woul d think you would have a hard time telling the buyer why the reading is so far off then what the stock cluster says.

you can remove the speedometer from your current cluster and insert it into the new one. That way, the miles stay the same.

I was lucky enough that the gauge cluster I bought was only off by 100 miles :-)

u are a little off there dood :roll: =)

62.xxx MPH = 100kmh
31.xxx MPH = 50kmh

1.609xxx mph = 1kmh.

Is it close enough... I guess. Correct, No.
