its all electrical it works off your ecu. The ecu is programmed to a set parameter which can only be changed by a dealer if your can be at all. Get a stand alone and dont worry about that s**t!!!

go to jdmcivic.com I believe someone still has an SI or TypeR one for sale for around 150. And yes, the same gen civic guage clusters are a direct plug in.

oh what does EK stand for??? i am bidding on a 99 civic si type r ek gauge cluster? what does this mean is it any different from a 99 civic si in the united states gauge cluster this may be a silly question>?

ek is just the japanese chassis code for 96-00 civics. there are ek4, ek9, etc, but there wont be any ek coupes, because japan didnt have coupes, and ek is only japanese. my 97 ex coupe, for example, is an ej8, a 99-00 si is an em1. its all about the chassis codes.

the only obvious difference is that the Japanese cluster is in kilometers rather than MPHs. and there's a carbon fiber overlay.

so for say... si cluster hits 9rpm right? and 140mph... and ex/lx is like 8rpm and 120mph? so if i replace it with si cluster it will not matter right? because all work is done at the ECU... what i'm saying is like when you're going 20mph on your EX cluster, will it be same as SI Cluster? cuz SI cluster got that extra 20mph

hmm thats a good question.... but what from i understand when you rewire all the things in the si gauge cluster it will read accurate results so your rpm's will be accurate and if your going 40 mph it will read 40 mph not 60 mph

just double checked and people said on different sites that the ECU makes no difference and it doesn't need to be readjusted when you get a new gauge cluster

thats a good idea with the gauge cluster..... but the very left gauge on the gauge cluster gets cut off so it looks funny thats why i am not doing it.....
