Yesterday when trying to reconnect the wires to the pot under the dash, I shorted it by accident so I've been without gauge lights for a few days. Well, I decided that the only other three prong pot in the whole car was the dimmer switch. I tried hooking the wires up and got it to work, but it was backwards. So I tried swapping wires and turned the key and the dash started to smoke. I believe it couldn't been the relay, but I'm not sure. The lights have three wires. They labeled: Left - Lettering Middle - Striped line Right - X's. Those are the wires coming from the relay. They were originally hooked up to a pot on the one plastic cover.
