I've taken apart most of my dash trying to get to my gauges. I want to change the lights than shine on the gauges (white) and the D4 indicator bulb (yes, the car's an auto). Anyone have any tips for doing this?

here's how far i am:

i have done it! it is easy 8)

so there are 4 screws to realease (red points), after you disconect the cabels. and the bulbs will be light to acces, both, those from the backside un those from upperside(blue points), which shine on the gauges

after you release those 4 screws you pull the gauge to yourself and disconect the cables, then you just take it out.

i know how the bulbs look, but i can not name them

They are 3 watts each. I believe they are 194

Ok I've gotten everything done. Now I just gotta find the bulbs. I'm trying to find amber bulbs to light the gauges. Anyone know where these can be found?

as the replacment bulbs will be just in stock color, it is a better idea to paint them. maybe there are some clolr bulbs, but i searched for them, without results.

will this work for a 5th gen?
Yes. But the removing of the gauge is bit harder. You need to take the clock out!

I just took apart the cluster. I was only able to change one 194 bulb to a polarg blue bulb. All the other bulbs were small as hell and I've never seen any blue ones, so I am going to the hobby store tomorrow to pick up some paint. My cruise control light went out too on the button and I took that bulb out and that one is even smaller! Man, time to take a trip to Pepboys/ Autozone.

A bunch but only one 194 is ez to change. you are going to have to paint all of the rest. got the translucent paint today at the hobby store.
