get rid of rubbing compound

i just painted my center console black on my ek and then i read tht a good thing to do is put rubbing compound on it and then wipe off the excse compund and i did and then i added wax to it and let it dry and now the center console is still cloudy a lil and u can tell the rubbing compound was there and left a bad effect on it any ideas on how to get rid of the rubbing compiund cloudy look and make it black as it use to be before the rubbing compound.

Rubbing compound is an abrasive, so you probably scratched it.....Sounds like you will need to re-paint it:(

Usually, rubbing compound is used on laquer or a clear coat. I always clear coat my painted products which is usually the last step before rubbing compund on a DIY. Here are your nest steps.

1.Strip
2.Sand
3.Primer
4.Paint
5.Laquer/Clearcoat
6.Rubbing Compound (lightly)
7.Wax/Polish to a shine.

After being let down by so many different laquers and clear coats i just use soapy water and 800 grit sand paper (completely soaked in soapy water) and wet sand it. wet Sand > rubbing compund.

so i should wet sand the painted picese at 800 grit to remove the rubbing compound
