getting a 94 for free

my godfather drives a 94 (i have no idea what the model is) but he told me that he's giving it to me for free. he said that it drives well around town, but if you take it on the highway it will stall after it reaches a certain speed. does anyone on here know what the issue could be? or is it one of those cases where it could be anything unless someone looks at it? i'm taking it to get looked at anyway when he gives it to me but i would like to have an idea of what the reason could be. thanks guys! i'm really excited to get behind the wheel of a civic!!!

he told me he rarely ever drives it and has only driven it 4 times in the pass 6 years. he also told me that he's never really taken it anywhere too distant from his house and he'll only go a town over from him maximum. do you guys think that this plays a part in the car dying out on the highway since it never really gets used?

If your going to take it to get looked at by a good mechanic then tell him to take it on the highway on a test drive and if its a good mechanic then they should be able to at least give you an idea of the problem or why it does it.
