Getting a 99 civic Si clone

So as the title says, I may be getting a 99 civic Si clone. I'm not new to the honda world, but was wondering everyone's thoughts. I'm driving an 04 Neon SRT4 that does have cosmetic issues and was neglected by its previous owners severely. I love the car but I miss owning a honda. The civic I'm looking at is a 99 Coupe with 114xxx miles and is Milano red and is in amazing shape... Only downfall, d series. BUT forced induction is my future plans tho. But as honda owners, what do u guys think

Is the srt4 only cosmetic damage? Or is the engine beat pretty bad, cause I would any day choose the SRT4 over a civic.

Meh, my Civic was faster than my buddies SRT-4. ;)

As long as the motor is healthy and it's not a shitbucket, I'd say do it, then swap and/or boost it. You'll have a ton of fun.

It's cosmetic for the most part. But engine and body was very neglected. The SRT is an amazing and fun car but I miss the days of building a honda tho haha. If I could figure out how to post pics on here, I'd post some of the civic and the SRT

just upload pics to an image hosting site, and then wrap the img tags around it

If that's their idea of a clone, talk them down on the price big time. I'd choose the civic just because there's soo many options for modifying it and it's one of the cheapest cars you can build up. Who doesn't like a cheap thrill lol

And just because this used to be the most popular phrase on the site other than anything with the word 'intake' in it.....

Like CHILD hinted, thats not really a clone being that SIs had all trim color matched, among other things. Use al the potential negative, such as whats listed below, to negotiate a better price. I say show up with the cash you're willing to pay for it so you can make a hard offer. Most guys are more willing to accept a lower offer when the cash is a handover away.

- aftermarket floor mats
- missing console pocket
- white painted interior trims (even if you dont mind it, act like you dont like it)
- aftermarket headlights
- unpainted grille, lip
- front lip looks damaged on the passenger side
- loose wires under the dash (if someone was too lazy to runs wires correctly then things were done poorly)
- chipped paint in bumper vents
- rear brakes likely worn (ebrake is engaged way higher than it should be)
- purple tints
