So I would like some of your opinions. What's a better build motor wise to use a dd and still get some good horse power out if?

Dohc or sohc

If there has been a thread like this please let me know cause I was unable to find it.

I just don't know what u want to build in my ex coupe... :?:

just keep the motor you have.

DOHC's can achieve a higher amount of HP than SOHC's can. I may be wrong but:
For a daily driver, a (turbo or N/A) SOHC can only reach so much hp, at around 200hp I believe before you have to do some major, expensive tuning and rebuilding. A B/H swap can reach 200-300 turbo'd easily without much problems I think, and a K20/k24 much more. (i don't know much about building motors, just spreading what i've read which im still unsure at the accuracy of)

Thanks bro

I like the motor I have it's just that I'm not to impressed with the single can vtec, I used to run a lot of rotary engines and when I hit the gas on those they got up and went lol

boost or swap for dohc if wanting alot of power (you can get alot more than 200hp out of sohc boosted) but otherwise like already said just keep what you got.

All stock is definitely a good Option as well lol, my question is why some people would rather a sohc as oppose to a dohc just wanted some input that's all

alot of people build the sohc just to be a little different and see how far they can push it
with a good tune turbo and stock internals on a sohc thats where that 200 number comes from cause thats the highest safe amount on stock internals. it all comes down to what kind of build you want. to make real power a d sereies will need to be boosted but can turn out to be cheaper than a b swap and make more hp than some of them. the cheapness part depends on your abilty to piece a kit together.

Undefeated D16y8......WOW
Honestly block gaurs the motor and you can do a lot. Been running 17 psi stock with just he block guard and no problems year straight.
