There was a bunch of shavings from where the steering wheel connects to the steering column, almost looks like it was never attached properly or was forced on.

At 43 seconds in you can see what I mean.

When your producing millions of cars a year, problems happen. Look at Toyota lately.

:word:. Speaks the truth.

OP post again when it happens to a bunch of them. One car with a faulty steering wheel shaft is NOT GM fail for millions of cars.

I had a 2007 Silverado Duramax that I drove daily for 2 years. I would take that truck back in a heart beat. Best vehicle I have ever owned (owned over 15 so far from Nissan, Mazda, Chevy, Hyundai, Suzuki, GMC, and even VW). Had to sell because of closing a business, having to get a new job, and diesel being so high. $120 a fill up every week had me tearing up every time the gas light came on.

Although it happened at an unfortunate time, s**t happens. If you're too afraid of your car breaking down or the occasional manufacturer defect, then don't drive it.

But I feel so much better knowing that while Toyota may have had a bigger recall, you can beat the s*** out of their cars and they will still last forever.

# of recalls says nothing to me. If your cars stand up to your name and last, I will buy your car.

I used to own a Camaro that had 350k miles on it, I would buy another GM product in a heartbeat.

You know what gets me about toyota? The fact that they denied the problem and blamed it on user error, then blamed it on floor mats, then finally admitted to the problem and recalled. At least GM is on top of the ball and are already recalling. If it were Toyota, it would be MONTHS before they started to recall.

:word: I would not hesitate to buy another Chevy.

When I worked for GM we had 3 guys that had all the maintenance done on their Duramax Sierras there. 2 of them were over 200k in mileage and the other was a hair over 500k (that isn't a typo). Trucks still ran like they just came off the lot. They were all work rigs for the guys and the one that was over 500 used his to tow a fifth wheel hook up horse trailer all over the united states so they weren't very easy miles.
