im lookin at this on ebay, universal 90mm t/b from godspeed made from cnc billet, its beautiful, and bout a 100 bucks, but im wondering.... im building up a turbo motor for a eg8 and wondering how much a differance it would make. is it overkill? what would be the drawbacks?

It is a huge overkill lol, even if you're pushing like 600+hp

too much, 70mm max unless your building a 800hp monster.. but since you asked this question i doubt that.. bigger isn't always better

but the price is a killer deal.... cant find the 70mmfor under a 100 bucks...
ok, so.
you will lose HP and TQ with it, so why waste the $100 on something that is not going to benefit any...:???:

a 90mm TB will NOT fit on a stock intake manifold, you'll have to have a custom manifold made ($1000+) to fit it, and have it flow properly.

I made the mistake of buying a 76mm TB. It BARELY fits on my ported out H manifold. It made a difference in power (about 5whp over a 70) but anything bigger would just be too much.

Plus cheap throttle bodies stick open quite often due to lack of coolant flowing through an aluminum housing with a steel butterfly.

uh, you'd be very surprised. I know plenty of guys making 400-450WHP on stock b series TB's/intake manifolds, and a couple guys making 550+ on stock h22 intake manifold/TB.

On boosted cars though, of course.
