I just had a low mileage used V-Tec motor put in my 2000 Honda Civic Ex and have had the 500 mile service done on it. Ever since having the motor put in I have had to replace the battery which was less than a year old cuz it was bulging and smoking and have blown countless sets of headlight bulbs but am not blowing any fuses. Never had an electrical problem in the 5 years I've owned the car til after the new motor was put in. What could possibly be causing this problem???

Bad voltage regulator on alternator .
Replace alternator .
When replacing headlight bulbs never touch bulb with bare hand .use hand towel or gloves.
Oil in are skin causes halogen bulbs to
Prematurely burn out .
Also go over wiring harness on engine bay for damage caused possibly by engine swap .

I just had the alternator tested today and it tested fine. Thanks for the other advice bout the harness I will do that and see if I can find anything. And as far as touching the bulbs i learned that lesson bout four years ago with a $60.00 set of bulbs.

Make sure the headlights are properly secured. Anything thats loose in the front end can cause vibrations and cause the headlights to prematurely burn out...
