haha stay away from ebay turbo's. unless you find a REAL Garrett or Turbonetic or something.. you can get your charge pipes off ebay no problem. mine are working fine. but as for your parts... you should of bought a set of forged pistons and rods for your b16 instead of cams. cams aren't really necessary for turbo. i blew the rings of my stock pistons in my b16 at onlly 4psi. so do a LOT of research before you go boosting. sounds like you need to read up on it

yea i know i should have but then again tax returns are around the corner and i cant decide if i should get a clutch and a flywheel or should i get pistons, rods, springs, and retainers what would u go with......god this is soo frustrating i hate being young i jus wanna work and build my car:evil:

upping your valve-train isn't completely necessary for a turbo, unless you plan to go huge with it. but my top end is stock. stock cams/gears/springs. my bottom end is what is mildly built. and thats what you want to be the strongest, because that is what will blow out first. you should just scout around for a set of eagle H-beam rods or any strong forged rods, and some good forged low compression pistons. and ARP headstuds are a very good idea as well. just piece your kit together over time. before you know it, you'll have everything you need. just do some research, make a list of everything you need, then start buying stuff one at a time, or however your budget allows. thats what i did, and now i'm in my 'break-in' period on my motor. 250 miles on it so far, so good. whats your HP goal anyways?

thats my goal as well. you will however need that clutch. the stock ones will not hold up to much boost. mine's almost gone... so make sure to add a nice clutch to your list. you dont need a special flywheel though... the stock ones are just fine. actually if you get those 'lightweight flywheels' you will lose some torque on the highway and prolly lose gas mileage. 300hp is a nice streetable goal IMO. and i believe your top end will be fine stock with that goal. adjustable cam gears will help in your tuning process though, so i'd reccommend those. i still need some... good luck man. take your time

Good idea. I've been researching and thinking about boosting for over a year now and have just started peicing my kit together. Plus a clutch is a pretty damn important maintenance item to keep your car running in top notch form.

yea ill prolly jus get the clutch next and then work on getting some pistons and rods while im doing my research on going turbo

would you think these pistons and rods be good

you need 81mm pistons for a b16. you'll want low compression, so the 'shape' will actually be "cupped" shape instead of "domed" shape.

now, there are some people that like higher compression pistons with turbo setups, but that requires REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY good tuning. the lower the compression, the more room you have with your tuning and less detonation problems. so get low compression pistons and be on the safer side. anything 9:1 and lower is good.

i got a em1 also... and am parting my turbo kit. if your interested ill sell you what i have and you can finish where i left off... my parts include a garrett t3/t04e .57 trim turbo 2000 miles on it, DSM 450cc Injectors, Drag Manifold so you can retain your A/C and P/S 2000 miles on it, Precision Intercooler good for 300 hp, DSM BOV, and turbo piping that you will have to cut and fabricate to fit your car, and a charge pipe that comes with a flange for the BOV. let me know if youre interested and we'll work something out.

so would the flat top ones be good or actuall cupped pistons?

sounds like we have almost the same setup, xcept i have a b16a and a Garrett T... what number are you going for? and what compression pistons did you get?

well flat tops are ok.. i was just saying "cupped" as in non-domed. so yeah you're right.. flat top, or cupped is what you wanna look for. those are the lower compression pistons. there are people that like high compression pistons with their turbos, and there are people that like low compression pistons with their turbos. basically high comp. pistons means less boost to get to your power goal but it also means more chance of detonation. low comp. pistons means more boost to get to your power goal and more room for error and less chance of detonation. (plus more boost = more fun =) ) i had my stock higher comp. b16 pistons in there for a while, and i blew a hole in one. just at 4psi. so my reccommendation is low comp all the way.

ok i think im gonna go low comp the last thing i need is blowing my motor
