So, my Kenwood KDCMP145 came in the mail extremely early (I was excited, I love birthdays!). So, I go to try and hook it all up and found out that i can't tell what is what. My factory wiring harness is still in there, so what's supposed to be connected to that? Also, my speakers have their own speaker wires. The left and right fronts are there, but I have no idea which ones are my rear speakers, so I'll have to figure that one out. Do I need a connector to connect my deck to the factory harness for power and then just wire the speaker wires to the deck?

get a vehicle specific harness, it will plug into your oem plug that goes into the radio and the wires are color coded, they should be the same as the wires in your deck, then all you do is connect the like colors...

Found one at Best By for $16.99. Gonna try picking it up this weekend. Hopefully my brake caliper kits will be here this weekend so I can get my car rolling again. Also, when I get the harness, it seems like the only wires that will go to the harness are the mute, p. cont, ant. cont, the battery wire, ignition wire, and ground wire because the speaker wires will go to the speakers. Is that fine?

good, the harness will save you alot of headache, not all of the wires will be used, they are a universal unit so they have alot of wires some cars dont have, main wires will be the yellow battery, red accessory , black ground, you may have a dimmer wire or ill. but usually the rest can be capped off, is it a nav unit or just a regular din sized deck?, and yes the speakers will be fine going right from the wires to the deck so long as the polarity is right and you know what wire goes to what speaker

Is there anywhere to buy the harness adapter in stores? I don't wanna order it and wait so much more time to finally shave music in my car.

you shouldnt have much problems with the wires, regular din size is easier, you can find them at car audio stores, even walmart has a small selection, metra (audio company) number is 70-1720, most other companies have the same number or some rendition of that, its just a basic honda wire harness

try crutchfield.com. I got my deck from there and i got it 2 days later so they have really fast shipping. I didnt need the wiring harness because i already had an aftermarket deck. I know they have the harnesses though because they tried to sell me one.

Okay, cause I was looking online and bestbuy and walmart were saying they didn't have them, only in stores. I'll call over tonight and see if any of them have it.

[EDIT]
Going to AutoZone or Advance. They have the Metra one for $11.99. Gonna head over after school tonight.

I got the radio installed and it works fine with only two speakers. However, my cclimate control lights dont come on anymore. All my wiring is good. Made sure everything was right and nothing is shorted. Also does anyone know why my iPod touch doesnt work through aux? (kDC-MP145)

climate control lights i have no idea, as for the ipod, are you going through an 1/8 inch jack or an ipod plug, or usb? i know there are alot of decks that arent ipod touch compatible

The biggest thing when doing a deck install is using a harness like above... And using proper connectors or soldering them... As far as climate... Try undoing your deck, if it starts working again then there is a wire shorting out somewhere..

I'm using the 3.5 mm plug on the faceplate with a male-to-male 3.5mm cord.

I'm going find out when I take it back out to hook the rears up.
