I got my clutch installed today on the side by this guy i've known for a few months from my brother... he has an si with a greddy turbo kit and has been boosted for overs two years... i told him when i get my greddy kit i was going to get hondata and get it tuned he told me that he has all the hook ups to tune the greddy emanage and that if i get a hondata i will find no places around here to get it tuned... he said he uses a laptop and a bunch of other stuff... but i am just wondering if this will compare to getting a hondata i know its crap but if he tunes it correctly then isn't that the same of getting a hondata tuned?

from what i've 'heard'....the Hondata engine management has way more options and fine tuning capabilities than the GReddy E-manage. But on the other hand, if you're not runnin' much over stock boost, than the GReddy will just as effective. GReddy emange only goes to shitz once you're dabbling in higher boost

just currious...

i don't have a turbo or anything, but what psi does the greddy emanage operate at? would it flip out if you went a pound or two over?

the answer is clear, UBERDATA.

I think e-manage will run 8psi fine, anything over that and it needs to be tuned. I may be wrong so dont quote me on that.

your friend does have a good point. First you have to search locally and find a hondata tuner, if you cant find one it's pretty pointless to get hondata, especially if it's not going to be tuned by someone with extensive knowledge of the system. Im in the same situation as you, we finally have a hondata tuner locally, but they guy is f'ing stupid... to make a long story short. I'm holding off on hondata, because i dont trust this guy's tuning skills.

damn you live all the way in hawaii... hehe yeah well i am guessing for my turbo kit i'm going to stay with greddy have him tune it eventually boost up around 7 psi and then go from there

uberdata will require some modification on the usdm ECU's..... if you have a JDM ECU, no addition of the capacitors and resistors is needed. I do believe you would still need to be OBD1..... (just buy the conversion harness, and a p72 or p28 ecu and your good to go..... i have already downloaded the uberdata program and have been messin with it a lil.... it seems to be pretty cool, and alot of peeps have had great success tuning... Sure, hondata seems to be the favorite choice... but if you could accomplish the same thing, for a ton less..... why would you not give uberdata a try....

I'm currently running the Greddy Emanage at 8psi and all is well. Are the other ones better? Probably, but the Emanage does good for my needs.
