Grinding in 1st 2nd 3rd

Hey everyone, im new to the forum so go easy on me if im posting in the wrong place or something.

I own a 94 EG VTi, D16Y1 VTEC.
Since i bought the car about 6 months ago, its had a bit of work done to it.

Lowered, Pod filter, injectors, heavy duty clutch.. all that kinda small crap.

It's been serviced just a month ago..

Ive been having weird Grinding noises in 1st, less in 2nd, and even less in 3rd.
It only happens when im down shifting from, lets say, 4th.. 3rd.. bit of grinding ...2nd.. heaps of grinding, then just clutch and stop back into 1st.

The car will also grind when im in 2nd, at low speeds, and just take my foot off the accelerator..

My old man told me it was just my thrust bearing rubbing against something, and said no matter what i do, i cant get it fixed. I called bull s*** and we had a huge argument about it.

Also when i change into the 3rd, not always but most the time, it will pop out when i stop accelerating, ive made sure the gears are meshing and that it has engaged 3rd and it will still pop out?

HELP!
Whats the problem here?
How much do you think ill be looking at to get it fixed?

I live in Perth Western Australia, so anyone from Aus that knows the pricing will be GREAT!

Thanks guys

Have kind of the same problem with mine. Has a grinding sound more when letting off the pedal/deceleration in 1st and 2nd and does it less in the other gears. Ive done a little bit of investigation on it but not that much since it isnt really bothering me. From what ive read it sounds like the input shaft bearing is bad.

Its pretty embarrassing coming up to a set of lights with a grinding sound, or just cruising though a coffee strip.

Makes the car sound dirty and not looked after.

If anyone can find anything on this, it will be great!

what kind of fluid do you have in your transmission?

Happened to me after I did my clutch = new input bearing

I had the same issue, just idle spinning grind. No pop-out, no slip-out/ difficult gear selection.

I used a 50-50 syncromesh hand honda MTF, with a splash of the Lucas stop slip.

The stop slip adds some viscosity to the watery MTF and cuts down on the noise. I over filled slightly and it came out of the breather neck a little, but what came out was the consistency of hand soap.

The noise stopped after about 500 miles of driving.
